Property Details

Location Surrounded by lovely open countryside and enjoying superb views over Lake Windermere, Top Garden Suite is located just a few miles from the lake shore on the quieter western flank of Lake Windermere. The car ferry connects Far Sawrey with a point on the eastern shore just one mile south of Bowness and if approaching from the ferry the property is found in an elevated position after around a mile on the right hand side of the road. Alternatively, approaching from Ambleside take the A593 heading for Coniston, turning left onto the B5286 towards Hawkshead and follow the B5285 signposted for Sawrey, Windermere and the ferry. The entrance drive to Sawrey Knotts can be found on the left hand side on the sharp bend shortly after the Cuckoo Brow Inn. The apartment is at the top of the driveway to the right hand side of the main building.

Description Sawrey Knotts must have been a truly magnificent home when it was built as a private residence in 1861. With stunning views looking south down Lake Windermere the setting is as absolutely magnificent today as it was 160 years ago. The property itself has lost none of its appeal either. Attractive as ever, the building was thoughtfully subdivided in 2002 to create six unique and wonderful apartments in the main building with a further three further units in the old stable block.

Set in around three acres of lovely grounds with absolutely wonderful views in some of the prettiest scenery in Lakeland, the location could hardly be improved. Directional finger posts in the grounds indicate that the Windermere ferry is just a pleasant mile long stroll away (giving ferry access to all points around the lake, from Ambleside in the north, Bowness in the west and Lakeside and Fell Foot in the south), as is Beatrix Potters former home at Hilltop. The highly regarded Cuckoo Brow Inn is also just a short amble away, so the immediate appeal of this splendid location is easy to appreciate.

Top Garden Suite itself is a welcoming self contained apartment which enjoys a splendid reputation with those who have holidayed here and includes a wonderful south facing living room with a bay style entrance area and superb views over the neighbouring roof down the valley to include long stretches of Lake Windermere flanked by the Grizedale Forest. The Kitchen enjoys similar views whilst the two double bedrooms, which are nice and evenly balanced in size, also enjoy very pleasant outlooks. There is a bathroom, two car parking spaces and there is a lovely patio area just outside, from which there are truly delightful views. The communal gardens are a real delight, again with stupendous views and attract a rich variety of local wildlife.

Top Garden Suite is an opportunity really too good to miss and is offered as a fully furnished holiday let with forward bookings.
