Location The property could hardly be better placed in the heart of Grasmere overlooking the village green. On approaching Grasmere from the direction of Ambleside, take the first turning into the village at the mini roundabout opposite the Wordsworth Trust and Dove Cottage (the former home of William Wordsworth) and proceed through the village until the village green is seen on your right hand side. Turn right into the one way lane which is College Street where free short stay car parking is provided on the right with private car parking at the rear of the building for Abigail’s View itself.
Description Beautifully appointed and superbly placed this immaculate, self contained first floor apartment enjoys a welcoming cottage feel and could hardly be better placed if you are seeking a location for a successful holiday let or a relaxing weekend retreat (or a combination of the two of course).
Grasmere is well known the world over for its literary connections with the romantic poets, and with William Wordsworth in particular of course, but it is probably the beauty of the village itself and its wonderful surroundings which really sets the pulse racing. You can quite literally step out of the door of Abigail’s View and stroll directly to the lake shore, or walk to beautiful waterfalls and tarns, hike up some of the most dramatic mountains in the region or simply potter around the shops, visiting Wordsworth’s birthplace (or indeed any of the many traditional inns which he may, or may not, have frequented) all without troubling to find the car keys.
This south facing apartment is located above retail premises looking over the village green and includes a delightfully open plan, dual aspect living space with plenty of space in which to cook, dine and relax. The kitchen is particularly well equipped and the exposed stone walling adds more than a touch of traditional charm whilst offering the inclusivity much sought after in holiday accommodation. A short flight of stairs leads to two well proportioned double bedrooms each with modern en-suite bathrooms – simply perfect for quiet weekends or for holiday letting. Good views are enjoyed from every window and there is a private car parking space at the rear and plenty of public car parking available nearby if required.
The perfect lock up and leave weekend retreat, holiday let or permanent home – come and see for yourself.
