Hackney & Leigh was established in 1982 following a fortuitous meeting of its founding partners Derrick Hackney and John Leigh. They initially opened three offices together in Ambleside, Windermere and Kendal (the last of these in Derrick’s dads old fruit and veg shop!).

Having started with just three offices, we are proud to not only still be a family run firm, but also now be the region’s largest Estate Agent with nine offices comprehensively covering the area, from Keswick and Penrith in the North to Carnforth and Grange in the South, giving us the ability to market your property with greater exposure, and to more potential buyers than any of our competitors.
